300 picExperienced gained through the design and operation of thirty large high speed catamarans has been incorporated into this design.

The hulls have exceptional efficiency over a wide range of displacements enabling the vessel to have a relatively large payload with modest horsepower. The design also has a very low wash and may operate in wake sensitive areas. The hulls also have an excellent seakeeping ability.

The weight of the aluminium in the structure of this vessel, not counting wastage, is approximately 24.5 tonnes. This construction is all welded aluminium using type 5083-H321 plate for the shell and type 6061-T6 for longitudinal framing. The majority of transverse framing is 6061-T6 extrusion.

Whilst the type of aluminium does not require painting for corrosion protection, it is normal to partially fill and fair the exterior of the hulls and superstructure above the waterline using an epoxy micro-balloon filler. The whole of the exterior is painted using epoxy primers and polyurethane finish coats.

Six vessels to this design have currently been launched with further vessels currently on order. The list below outlines a few examples launched to date:

Wanderer II
300 pic
The Wanderer II operates in the Gordon River and along the west coast of Tasmania. The Gordon River is a World Heritage environmentally sensitive area and the vessel easily satisfied all low wash criteria for this region. The vessel seats 154 passengers, achieves 28 knots with 2x600 hp engines.

Seabus I & II300 pic

The Seabus I and II operates in Tanzania, along the East African coast. Each vessel seats 163 passengers and achieves 29 knots fully loaded service speed with 2x1000hp engines.
