Sea transportation from Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa was substantially upgraded with the delivery of the high performance catamaran ‘Super Seabus III’.  This is the most prestigious vessel built at the time and the owners are very, very pleased with it.  The sea trials were excellent, achieving the contract speed of 35 knots". ‘Super Seabus III’ was designed  to Bureau Veritas survey with an overall length of 31 metres, beam of 9.5 metres and draft of 1.9 metres.

381 planWith high standard air-conditioned accommodation areas on main and upper deck, the ferry carries a complement of 284 passengers and a crew of five. There is a rakish appearance to this design with the wheelhouse raised above the upper deck coach roof to ensure maximum all-round vision, while wing stations to each side facilitate docking and other close range maneuvers

Passengers board the ferry through main deck doorways positioned to port and starboard slightly forward of amidships, then make their way to the upper deck by a central stairway which is flanked on each side by luggage racks. Boarding can also be carried out when required through gateways to port and starboard at the after end of the main deck. Access to the raised wheelhouse is via a small companionway to starboard of the main staircase.

One of the power options is  four V12 MAN D2842 LE 408 marine diesels, each developing 1000 horsepower at 2100 rpm. Installed in two engine rooms in each hull, each pairing is coupled via a Servogear HD 295 PTI gearbox to a Servogear four-bladed controllable pitch propeller. This propulsion package is fuelled by 10000 litres of diesel and delivers a maximum speed of 35 knots.
